Guiding, Lessons & Workshops - Helen E. Grose

Love photography and would like help to improve your skills?
Interested in photographing nature and wildlife, but don't know where to go?
Want to learn how to take better photos, but feel intimidated by technology (or people who talk in technical terms)?
Feel shy in large groups or don't feel you learn enough?
Want to immerse yourself in a few days of adventure with your camera and like-minded people?

I can help!

LESSONS - get individual instruction in an area where you feel you need to improve. I offer one-on-one and small group lessons on a number of photography subjects, including: camera basics, finding & photographing wildlife, landscape photography, and sports & action photography.

WORKSHOPS - I name the time and the place and we meet as a small group of like-minded people, immersing ourselves in nature, learning photography hands-on, and enjoying laughs along the way.

GUIDING - let me show you around some of my favourite natural places and spaces in Muskoka and Algonquin Provincial Park. This is a great opportunity to get out and practice what you know, or combine it with an in-the-field learning experience - one-on-one or as a small group.

I strive to provide a comfortable learning experience where you don't feel shy asking questions and don't need a dictionary to understand what I'm saying.

If you don't find what you're looking for below, please contact me and I'd be happy to customize a program to suit your needs!

Photography Workshops

Women's Weekend in Algonquin Photography Workshop

Women + Algonquin + Photography = One Amazing Weekend!

I’m excited to announce my first workshop of 2018 and thrilled to offer it exclusively to women! Over the years, I’ve heard from many women who feel the “tech talk” has been too much or the male-dominated environment has been too intimidating to allow them to learn and grow. So, we’ve created this workshop just for YOU! We’ll spend a girls’ weekend in Canada’s oldest provincial park – Algonquin! Hosted by The Mad Musher in Whitney, minutes from Algonquin's east gate. We'll enjoy exclusive use of their riverside rooms for two nights and three days. Join me for some classroom learning, image sharing, and lots of time exploring some of my favourite spaces (and hopefully faces!) in Algonquin!

Guiding

Guiding is a great option for those who would like to spend some time photographing nature, wildlife, landscapes or waterfalls, but don't know where to go or need a little help along the way.

Have a small group of friends looking for a guide in Muskoka or Algonquin Park?
Are you a small organized group interested in learning something new while spending a day outside?
Are you flying solo and hoping to "tag along"?

All these situations require different levels of work and organization. Please contact Helen (info@helengrose.ca) for a customized quote and be sure to include as many details as possible, specifically:
~ Number of individuals participating
~ Skill level of participants
~ Interest in photography instruction and guiding or simply me guiding you to photo opportunities
~ Expected duration (hours/days)
~ Any budget requirements or considerations

Guided Algonquin Adventure

Spend a day in Canada's oldest provincial park! Opportunities are endless, offering an array of beautiful lakes and forest landscapes, as well as some of Canada's favourite animals - moose, foxes, wolves, beavers and loons. Whether you're interested in grand vistas or macro details, there's always something amazing to photograph in Algonquin Park.

Note: While every effort is made to find wildlife to photograph, there are many factors outside of our control and, therefore, no guarantees are made.

Guided Waterfalls of Muskoka Tour

Spend a day in cottage country exploring and photographing waterfalls. With its wealth of lakes and rocky outcroppings of the Canadian Shield, Muskoka is home to a number of stunning waterfalls that flow year-round.

Note: rain fall has a great impact on the flow of waterfalls, so this will be a consideration when booking.
